Inconel 617 Pipes Supplier, Stockist and Exporter

Aurico Alloys LLP supplies Inconel 617 pipe (N06617, Werkstoff 2.4663), seamless to ASTM B167 and electric-fusion-welded to ASTM B546, from Mumbai to customers across India and in more than 40 export markets.

A 617 pipe is usually a header or a transfer line that has to hold pressure where most alloys are creeping: the steam headers of an advanced ultra-supercritical boiler, the hot-gas lines of a high-temperature reactor design, a petrochemical line running above 800°C. In that range the wall thickness is set by creep-rupture strength, and 617’s cobalt and molybdenum let it be thinner than in any other solid-solution nickel alloy.

Mechanical and Physical Properties

At room temperature 617 runs around 740 MPa tensile. The design value for pipe is its creep-rupture strength between 800 and 1100°C, which is the highest of the solid-solution nickel alloys, together with resistance to carburising and oxidising process gas.

Industry Applications

Why Inconel 617 pipe

The choice between seamless and welded 617 pipe is mostly one of size. ASTM B167 covers seamless pipe and tube; ASTM B546 covers electric-fusion-welded pipe from 3 in. nominal upward, double-welded with filler metal and supplied annealed. Large-diameter headers are therefore often welded pipe, while small-bore lines are seamless. Either way the case for 617 is the same: a line holding pressure above 800°C that would need an impractical wall in anything weaker.

Where Inconel 617 pipe is specified
IndustryTypical use
Power generationHeaders and main steam piping in advanced ultra-supercritical boilers.
NuclearHot-gas ducting and piping in high-temperature gas-cooled reactor designs.
PetrochemicalHigh-temperature transfer lines and reactor connections above 800°C.
IndustrialProcess piping carrying pressure in carburising or oxidising gas.

Testing and Certification

Pipe is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate stating heat number, chemical analysis and mechanical properties. Hydrostatic and ultrasonic testing, dye-penetrant examination of welded seams and positive material identification are available on request, with third-party inspection under our ISO 9001:2015 system.
