Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn (Ti-6-6-2)
Aurico Alloys LLP supplies Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn (Ti-6-6-2) as round bar, from Mumbai, India, with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.
Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn (Ti-6-6-2, UNS R56620) is a highly beta-stabilised alpha-beta titanium alloy, a higher-strength modification of Ti-6Al-4V produced by adding vanadium, iron and copper. It can be used annealed or in the solution-treated-and-aged condition. Because welding is generally not recommended, it is chosen for machined and fastened parts, including airframe and jet-engine components, rocket-engine cases and ordnance.
Key Properties
- Vanadium 5.00-6.00% against Grade 5's 3.5-4.5% — more beta phase, so it hardens deeper and to a higher strength.
- Tin 1.50-2.50% and aluminium 5.00-6.00%.
- Iron 0.35-1.00%, a range with a minimum, which is unusual for titanium and contributes to the hardenability.
- Less ductile and less weldable than Grade 5, which is the trade for the strength.
Applications
- Airframe forgings and fittings
- Ordnance and armour components
- High-strength fasteners
- Landing gear parts
