Duplex 2205
Aurico Alloys LLP supplies Duplex 2205 as sheet, plate, foil and round bar, from Mumbai, India, with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.
Duplex 2205 is the workhorse duplex stainless: a roughly balanced ferrite-austenite structure that delivers about twice the yield strength of 316L with markedly better resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking. S32205 is the modern higher-nitrogen version of the original S31803 and both are supplied against this grade.
Key Properties
- Chromium 22.2-22.5% with molybdenum 3.10-3.30% and nitrogen 0.16-0.18% — the three elements that set pitting resistance.
- Nickel only 5.1-5.3%, far below an austenitic grade, which is what makes duplex cost-stable when nickel moves.
- About twice the yield strength of 316L, so a thinner section carries the same load.
- S32205 is the modern higher-nitrogen version of the original S31803; both are supplied against this grade.
